TIME IS RUNNING OUT
Anthem Blue Cross BlueShield of Missouri has offered to extend its current healthcare contract with St. Louis County to protect employees and their families from potential disruption to their care and prevent as much as $6 million in new costs from blindsiding County residents – all that’s needed is for St. Louis County Councilmembers to authorize the extension and for County Executive Dr. Sam Page to sign it.
The County already faces budgetary challenges making it difficult to hire and retain employees to administer services (like trash collection). What’s more worrying is that the flawed process of selecting a health benefits company has resulted in political upheaval threatening to disrupt access to the affordable, quality healthcare that St. Louis County employees have been enjoying with Anthem BlueCross BlueShield of Missouri since 2017.
