Background:
Reid Health is threatening to disrupt coverage for vulnerable patients AND increase healthcare costs for Indiana’s employers and consumers.
Hoosiers have made it clear that they want more affordable healthcare, and leaders are listening. Last year, Indiana’s lawmakers sent a clear message to hospitals that they need to lower their rates. Many hospitals are working to comply with this directive, but Reid Health is not.
Reid Health charges over 400% of Medicare rates, all while enjoying a 26% profit margin. Anthem is asking them to lower their rates so they are in line with other hospitals in the state, but so far Reid Health has refused, actually demanding rate increases, and is even threatening to disrupt coverage for vulnerable patients in order to keep making enormous profits.
