Background:

As you might’ve seen, University of Missouri Health Care (MU Health Care) executives have made good on their threat to terminate their contract with Anthem Blue Cross Blue Shield in Missouri, exposing thousands of Missourians to uncertainty and limited access, all because Anthem wouldn’t agree to their unreasonable demands for a 3-year, 39% rate increase.

In defending the increase, MU Health Care points to what other university-affiliated hospitals get paid – but, fails to acknowledge that these other systems not only offer enhanced services, but deliver better quality.

MU Health Care’s 39% rate demands would increase health care costs for Missourians by $132 million!

This is more than Missouri employers, families, taxpayers, and patients can afford.

Given the economic headwinds we all face, the last thing consumers need is an even greater economic burden to shoulder, which is why Anthem remains at the negotiating table while holding the line on affordability.

Tell MU Health Care leaders to stop threatening health care affordability and access.
